Our Story
HBI Inspections, was founded in 2008 and is registered as a Small Business Enterprise (SBE). As a leading construction inspection firm in California, HBI is committed to providing clients with the highest quality inspection services possible. Our extensive knowledge of new construction, modernization, and renovation has allowed us to work on many different types of educational and public works projects throughout the State of California such as gymnasiums, theatres, libraries, classrooms, administrative facilities, science buildings, expansions, onsite and in-plant modular buildings and many more. The HBI Team brings forth a vast knowledge of construction and DSA inspections expertise with over 300 years combined.

We understand that good people make the difference, the experience and talent of our team are suited for any needs your construction project may require. Each HBI Project Inspector and our Team Managers will understand and help meet your Construction Inspection needs. For all projects we offer a team approach, to enhance the Inspector Services for each job assigned to us. Our inspectors hold multiple certificates and therefore build resilient working relationships and communications links with all collaborating disciplines. To maintain continuity, the Inspector(s) assigned shall remain assigned for each project’s duration. It is always our aim to help meet construction deadlines, and budgets.

Darrell Holmes
As President and CEO of H.B.I. Inspections, Darrell’s collaborative leadership and commitment to partnering with clients and their construction projects are fundamental to setting the company apart as a leading Construction Inspection firm. Darrell leads with humility and is known for creating a diverse, positive workplace environment where others are empowered to do their best work. Darrell’s passion is the intersection of construction inspections and people. Darrell is also responsible for supporting HBI’s strategic growth and leading day-to-day operations. This includes recruiting the best talent in areas of project managers, DSA, ICC, and OSHPD inspectors.
Darrell attended Houston Community College for Business Administration, with a background in Real Estate Development, and is licensed with the California Department of Real Estate. Darrell has over 35 years in the construction industry, all while being promoted within the ranks of large companies during his tender, as a designer, architectural draftsman, project manager, and estimator. Darrell holds three contractor Licenses B, C5, C6, along with his DSA Class-1 certification.
Darrell was also the CEO of a medium-sized construction company for 10 years with 26 employees, the company specializing in school construction and retail stores throughout California. His combined experience ensures his highest level of efficiency and service for all clients. He believes that H.B.I’s success is attributed to its talented staff and clients.
